Dan Baldwin is a British contemporary artist known for his 'Psychological landscapes', (Maeve Doyle, Maddox gallery, BBC Radio Soho)
Born in Manchester in 1972, Dan Baldwin studied at Eastbourne College of Art & Design, (1990/92) where he was awarded best student 'Graphic Design' before completing a BA in Communication Media from the Kent Institute of Art (1992-1996), awarded commendation & invited to stay on as 'Studio Associate'.
He then moved to Brighton,(1997) got his first studio and began developing his practice, exhibiting in the Brighton Fringe festival from 1997, & 98, gaining local attention via a collaboration with the band The Levellers, his art was seen by the director of the Horsham Arts centre, who offered him a solo show in 1999. This received the most press attention they had ever seen. He has since gone on to become one of the most prominent artists working in the UK today.
Dan Baldwin has created 26 solo exhibitions in London, Horsham, Newcastle, Jersey, Harrogate, Brighton, Paris, Dubai, West Hollywood / Los-Angeles, Nantucket, Dublin and New York. He has also presented his work in art fairs & group shows in The Royal Academy, Somerset House, Basel, NYC, Lancaster, San Francisco, Warrington, Portugal,Miami, Tokyo, Manchester, Hong Kong, Antwerp, Zurick, Beirut and Texas.
His artworks have been licenced for fashion usage, album art, book covers and for use on TV and film. He has three works in the permanent collection of The Groucho Club.
He has enjoyed high profile collaborations with Max Factor, British Airways, Pete Townsend, Paolo Nutini, Hush, The Keats Museum, Institute for Digital Archeology,(with poet laureatte Simon Armatage and poet Scarlet Sabett) singer Alison Mosshart & Waxsploitation records,UK designer Mercy Delta, Sara Berman, Penguin Random House, menswear designer Gresham Blake, Tom Speight and Atomic Ski.
He has supported The Teenage Cancer Trust, Teen Cancer USA, Help Refugees, Glasgow Childrens Hospital, Elephant Foundation, British Heart Foundation , C.A.L.M , Shelter, Willow Foundation,Connecting the Roots, Red Cross and many other charities like Arms around the Child & Caudwell Charity since the early 2000's.
His art is owned by a number of notable collectors including Sir Elton John, Sheperd Fairey, Pat Magnarella, Sir Peter Jones, Sir Ronald Cohen, Bernie Ecclestone, Roger Klein, Petra Ecclestone, Nick Frost, Jake Chapman, Gilbert & George, Mary Portas, Jo Whiley, Damien Hirst, Maxim & Liam Howlett from The Prodigy.
He has featured in Vogue, Elle, Elle Decoration , The Sunday Times, New York Post, Juxtapoz, Art of England, L.A Post, Aesthetica, Dazed and Confused, Modern Painters, I.D, Belio, Flair Magazine, Square Mile and many other publications since the early 2000's.
In 2008, his painting The End of Everything (Apocalypse Wow ) sold for over £25,000 in Bonhams first 'Urban Art ' auction alongside works by Banksy, Anthony Micallef, Dface & Faile.
He is primarily a painter who also works on paper, ceramics, printmaking & sculpture, but his creative flair and love of design in all realms brings us to this range of limited editions.
